EXPERIENCE

Mr. McKenny is a general partner and principal engineer for McKennyKrug Structural and Civil Engineers. Specializing in architectural/structural code review and design, Mr. McKenny's responsibilities include the analysis and design of architectural and life-safety systems, structural systems (steel frame, steel and concrete ductile frame, masonry/masonry frame and timber) and related components. Projects range from custom residential dwellings to high-rise structures.

Prior to establishing McKennyKrug, Mr. McKenny was in charge of technical code review services for BSI Consultants' Northern California Building Safety Division. Specializing in residential and commercial plan review, Mr. McKenny performed architectural and structural code review on a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial structures.

Mr. McKenny assisted in the technical and organizational development of the Sacramento County Building Department. As an Associate Engineer/Architect he was instrumental in bringing computer assisted structural analysis to the commercial plan review section. Mr. McKenny was project manager for Sacramento County's Automated Permit System, responsible for the coordination and development of information systems linking the Building Department with other code agencies.

Mr. McKenny's experience prior to code review involved responsibility in construction supervision for Pacific Gas and Electric Company's General Construction Department. Projects included industrial and utility structures, underground facilities, and earthwork operations. Responsible for both construction management and general inspection, Mr. McKenny gained valuable experience in construction practices and techniques.

Mr. McKenny was employed as a structural designer for RHVA Civil and Structural Engineers, Sacramento, performing design analysis for commercial and industrial projects employing all major types of engineering materials.

Concurrent with his design employment Mr. McKenny continues to serve as adjunct faculty staff for California State University Sacramento, teaching classes in Construction Management, Structural Design, Statics, and Mechanics of Materials. Dr. Ajit Virdee and Mr. McKenny co-authored the textbook "Fundamentals of Timber Design" and he also served as technical editor of the "Design of Masonry Structures" series of design manuals for the Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada.
